Take your health into your own hands!

Quality healthcare outcomes depend upon patients'; adherence to recommended treatment  regimens. Patient nonadherence can be a pervasive threat to health and wellbeing and carry an  appreciable economic burden as well. Patients sustain significant risks by misunderstanding,  forgetting, or ignoring healthcare advice. Realistic assessment of patients' knowledge and  understanding of the regimen, clear and effective communication between health professionals and  their patients, and the nurturance of trust in the therapeutic relationship are key factors to improve  adherence and compliance.
Patients must be given the opportunity to take their health into their own hands. Knowing the  patient as a person allows the health professional to understand elements that are crucial to the  patient's adherence: beliefs, attitudes, subjective norms, cultural context, social supports, and  emotional health challenges, particularly depression. Physician–patient partnerships are essential  when choosing amongst various therapeutic options to maximize adherence. Mutual collaboration  fosters greater patient satisfaction, reduces the risks of nonadherence, and improves patients' healthcare outcomes.

Human sensing bio hackathon
pilot experiment

at the beginning of November, 2017. Citizens, community developers, researchers, postgraduate students, IT experts and business representatives in Budapest have joined HUMAN SENSING Bio-Hackathon to find solutions to the air pollution problems of the city. Smart Healthcare Meetup and ESSRG with Makerspace.hu hosted the one-day event that leveraged low cost sensoring techology to build a wearable 'smart' tool that can monitor the environmental pollution, noise and UV loads of individuals in time and space as well as develop a community project idea that uses this' smart 'tool to solve an environmental health problem that is relevant to local society.

1st concept had been developed by teams:

RingAIR idea which uses data like dust, air quality to optimize navigation services of bikers for safety by integrating sensors with Blockchain infrastructure and communicating the optimized routes with a community Map. Their prototype was a smart ring that includes all sensors.

27 participants signed up to the hackathon. As for attendances, they were inspired by the passion and creativity of other people and mentors. During this DIY/DIWO research experiment the participants got the chance to imporve their technological and research literacy and they learnt about solution/product development, value expression, market features short talks on air pollution, low-cost pollution sensors, public health issues, social responsibility, and community cooperation around a common problem

2nd  concept had been developed by teams:

The LÁTSZÓTÉR team monitored the air quality and the UV radiation level at playgrounds and they indicated an alert in case of high radiation and pollution. Real-life implementation of this prototype would benefit a large number of parents and children and help create healthier playing circumstances for the youngests.

HUMAN SENSING
Bio-Hackathon

was involved with mentors and participants who found out their project ideas during a guided-completion process. The event was organized at the workshop of Makerspace.hu, which provides an inspiring site for designing.
Teams formed on Friday morning, and 24 hours later, they presented their work to a ‘panel of judges’ and a public audience.

3rd  concept had been developed by teams:

STILLY team put together a low-cost indoor noise sensing device. They built a prototype and sent the measured data to a smart watch. The data can be used for noise mapping and improving working conditions.
